Originally this was a thought for a story.
In mystery dungeon the entire purpose of the game is to aid and rescue Pokemon in need.
Taking that a step further I fell in love with the idea of journeying with your closest friends to protect others.
This image is a portrayal of Team Guardians Final Rescue.

Having grown up and grown old Pikachu and Kasai (charizard) are now accompanying their friends on their last mission.
Being caught in a rainstorm, Kasai offers them his wing for shelter and his flame for warmth.
San (jolteon) and Pikachu are exhausted from traveling, and while Pikachu rests against his closest friend, San revels in the warmth of the fire, as his conciousness continues to drift in his old age.
Absol and Houndoom are the youngest of the group, and the silent moments followed by the chorus of the rain give them time to reflect upon these memories. And lock them deep into their hearts one final time amongst their old but dearest friends.

Since time brings things their beginning, and their end, Pikachu, Kasai, Absol and Houndoom ultimately complete their last mission.
And with the memories and joys wrapped warmly in their hearts, they pay their last respects,
to Sans Final Rescue.

No, this was written on the spot after completing the picture.
I've never actually written anything down for this story-as is the case with most my ideas they end up lingering forever in my head.
